Finished the Hoyter line Geneology

Posted by chowanoke on December 20, 2009 at 6:29 AM

In fact I'm far from finished, but I transcribed the geneology of the Hoyter/Freeman line. This line is based off of multiple pedegree charts found on Ancestry.com and therefore is unsourced. So don't take it as gospel quite yet. What would really be valuable is primary sources for this line, particulary proving the relationship between Tabatha and Thomas Hoyter, Chowan Chief. Please email me if you know anything.  I'm going to try and tackle the Robins line next.

My great grandmother, Mary Fitzsimmons father so my great great grandfather married Mary Freeman. Mary's great great grandfather was John Freeman who married Tabitha Hoyter. My great grandmother was born in the province of Quebec and later moved to Ottawa Ontario. Mary Freman's husband Thomas was born in Ireland and moved to Canada . I have Mary born in Quebec about 1853 but those dates might be wrong.

My great great grandmother was Eliza Freeman. I believe that she was the sister of Mary A. Freeman. I have just recently started looking into my mother's background and I got as far as Joseph T and Sarah G Freeman as the parents of Eliza. I have started finding some information online that hints that she is part of this Chief Thomas Hoyter line. I have nothing substantial though. Do you have anything substantial that connects this line to John and Tabitha?

I am very interested on your article about John Robbins. My great grandmother is Esther Mabel Robbins, daughter of Johnathon Clark Robbins and Emily McQueen. I have traced the line back to Lemuel Clement Robbins (and John Robbins). Any additional info you may have I would love to know! In addition, Esther married William Huff, named her eldest son Blackburn, who passed it on to my father who passed it on to my brother. The name Blackburn seems as if it comes from a surname...It is said Esther is listed on the CNO rolls as "Choctaw by blood"...I have not been able to confirm this as of yet, but if she was the question is why? I am tracing the Huff line, and have found a Lucy Maude Blackburn Huff buried in War Eagle Arkansas....she ties into our direct line....answers/discoveries always lead to new questions!
